I have finally figured out why mine (and maybe yours) are so in love with water. They're splashers, drowners, dabblers, dippers, waders, tricklers, and sodden-paws, and I've wiped, mopped, dried, toweled, sopped, absorbed, and Bountied in an effort to keep up with them (esp. Kai, my Hawaiian sea).
They're not killing their food or washing their paws, they are lecanomancers!

Lecanomancy: Divination by interpreting the sound or image of an object or substance falling into a body of water.
I believe Duncan has divined that drowning a brand new catnip mouse in his water dish first thing in the a.m. brews up an interesting tea by the time mommy gets home.
this morning, bella dropped a piece of dry kibble into her water bowl and divined from the splish-sound that yes, i will be serving canned cat food again for dinner.
What a lovely word / concept...!
